Musings of an unhinged mind.

     With the completion of my new studio, it seemed right to celebrate with the first painting of oil on copper. This is a new method for me and one I've wanted to do for a long time.

     Painting on hard surfaces is a natural for me, so the transition to copper was not a difficult one after learning a few of the tricks.

     This scene had a lot of atmosphere in it after a summer of very large wildfires here in the Northwest, causing the very early morning sun to give off such a warm glow that you could almost see the warmth of the air.

     A lot of photos were taken on this scouting trip....kind of one of those "perfect storm" settings where the weather, light, rocks and brush were perfect. Oh, except it was COLD! Snug in a warm sleeping bag at night, the full moon shone through the screen in the top of the tent and made a perfect time complete.
     I knew these were the photos I had been waiting for to try on the copper.
