Musings of an unhinged mind.

Once in awhile life gets off track a bit and after a severe allergic reaction to a prescription drug, I'm right side up and on the mend after several weeks lost. 

Excitement is building as the first show of my year is only a couple of weeks away. Do stop by, introduce yourself and fall in love with any of my new wildlife oils or scratchboard if you're in that part of the country. Featured this year are the Spanish Kigers and the Pinto mustangs from the vast Steens Mountain Wilderness in southeast Oregon. 

At this show each artist is invited to place a piece in the lobby show, which is judged Best of Medium, Artist's Choice, People's Choice and Best of Show. It's always a beautiful "sub" show. This is the piece I am putting in this year.

It's pictured here showing the frame too as that is part of my concept with this piece. Lynx have these magnificent, huge feet and this idea to show them with a 3-D effect has been on my mind for awhile. After kicking around several ways to get what I wanted for a look, I finally ended up carving the frame out by hand....then with careful planning setting up the scratchboard, everything was lined up and this is the result. You know that tickled feeling you get when something really does work out? I love this look....I hope you do too!

My brand new Pro Panels were delivered well before the deadline that I had asked for....thank you Pro Panels, you are the best. Soon I will order a new lighting setup from them too. This will cut some of the time it takes to set up my show booth.....down to around 4 hours, I think, and look really slick too. I will post photos after the show so you can see how good they look. 

Organization has been sadly lacking here.....seems artists are more interested in doing art than doing all the piles of planning and paperwork that go with this business. I fall into that category too. So, this seemed to be the year that it all needs to be set right.

With that in mind I took a webinar from Alyson Stanfield...Organize Your Art Biz. Didn't know what I was missing, but what a difference this has made! Then I signed up for a much longer webinar from her....Art Biz Boot Camp. So, facing the hard stuff....kinda like wading through waist high snow.....it's coming together one little step at a time. Worth every penny. 

Speaking of snow....to all of you reading from the eastern U.S., please know I am thinking of you and hope your lives get back on track soon.
